Day 1: Arrival to Marrakech
Arrival to Marrakech Menara airport. Meet your private driver and escorted for the check in at the hotel. Dinne rat Rick’s Cafe. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Marrakech Sightseeing Tour
Today you will take a sightseeing tour of Marrakesh, a beautiful city of pink buildings. You will tour the city’s Jewish quarter, and see centuries-old synagogues and other sites of interest. Also share a meal with a Jewish home family, and learn about their experience as Jews in modern Morocco. Visit the Rabbi Hanania Hacohen Cemetery which is also the burial place of Rabbi Mordekhai Ben Attar and Rabbi Pinhas Hacohen Azough known as the “patron of Marrakech.” The city tour will include the former and current synagogues. You will visit the Bahia Palace. On the afternoon, strolling through the narrow streets of the old medina of Marrakech discovering artisans still working in the old-age traditional way. End up at Djemaa El Fna Square, considered to be the most famous and popular place in Marrakech. Overnight with breakfast at the hotel.
Day 3: Marrakech – Middle Atlas - Fes
Today you will drive towards the mediveal city of Fes crossing the Middle Atlas through the town of Ifrane, also called the Switzerland of Africa because of the combination of its Western alpine architecture and cedar forests. We will stop to see the indigenous Barbary monkeys that inhabit the area of Azrou; you can feed them and take photos if you wish. Optional lunch break in a ocal Restaurant. Continue our journey towards the imperial city of Fez. Check in and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Fes Sightseeing Tour
Explore the medieval city of Fes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site crammed with narrow streets, tiny squares and busy workshops. Fes was home to one of the most influential Talmudic scholars of all times, Rabbi Isaac Alfassi, as well as Maimonides in the years of 1160 to 1165. Visit the Mellah with its synagogue. Fez is a spiritual and cultural center with many facets. The tour will take you back in time while visiting Al Quaraouiyine University, the oldest university in the world (before even Oxford or the Sorbonne). We will also visit the medieval Medina with its Bou Anania Medersa, the Nejjarine fountain, the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum. Overnight with breakfast at your hotel.
Day 5: Fes - Chefchaouen
Today we will drive towards the blue washed-wall of Chefchaouen, a charming and truly unique town. Its Jewish heritage is one of its most distinctive characteristics: the picturesque blue-rinsed buildings that line the city’s narrow streets. Visit the walled fortress of the Kasbah contains beautiful gardens, near which is the small Museum and art gallery which houses the rich culture of the Rif Mountains. From the rooftop of the Kasbah view a spectacular panorama of the blue and white washed houses, tiled roofs and tiny balconies. After exploring the medina, walk in the nearby hillsides with the wonderful and magnificent waterfalls. The blue buildings are a remnant of a Jewish religious tradition of weaving prayer shawls with Tekhelel. Overnight with dinner at the hotel.
Day 6: Chefchaouen - Tetouan - Tangier
After breakfast, we drive towards the northern city of Tangier. Indeed, Tangier has always been referred to as the crossroads between Europe and Africa. We will have a stop to enjoy the white town of Tetouan where the biggest Jewish quarter is located. Arrival to Tangier, a city of contrast and a notable home for foreign residents such as Paul Bowles, Barbara Hutton, Gavin Maxwell and Malcolm Forbes. Lunch break before you start the most visited parts of Tangier : The Kasbah, one of the city's main attractions, The Grand and Petit Socco, and the old American legation. The tour will include as well the Jewish quarter "Mellah" - Nahon synagogue – dating from the 17th century and the Synagogue Shaar Raphael. Overnight with dinner at the hotel.
Day 7: Tangier - Rabat - Casablanca
Today we drive towards the administrative capital of Morocco "Rabat". You will start with a visit to the Chellah ruins and Kasbah of Oudayas located next to the Medina within the ramparts of the old city. The Mellah, with its narrow lanes and colorful courtyards, now the home of few Jewish families. Continue to Sale as the birthplace of Rabbi Hayyim Ben Moses Attar, the famous 18th Century scholar and Kabbalist, known throughout the Jewish world for his bible commentary the “or hahayyim.” After lunch, departure towards the econmic capital Casablanca. Depending on time you can visit Casablanca, home to Morocco’s largest Jewish community. During the tour, discover the Museum of Moroccan Judaism- The only Jewish museum in the Arab world—and see other highlights of this lively coastal city. You will explore the exterior of royal palace and the internal visit of Hassan II Mosque. Overnight wit dinner at the hotel.
Day 8: Casablanca- Back to airport
Transfer to Casablanca Mohammed V International airport for your return flight with of remarkable memories of Moroccan Jewish heritage.
