Day 1: Arrival to Fes - Transfer to the hotel

Arrival to Fes Airport where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Our driver will provide a brief overview of your tour. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Fes Sightseeing Tour

Explore the medieval city of Fes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site crammed with narrow streets, tiny squares and busy workshops. Fes was home to one of the most influential Talmudic scholars of all times, Rabbi Isaac Alfassi, as well as Maimonides in the years of 1160 to 1165. Visit the Mellah with its synagogue. Fez is a spiritual and cultural center with many facets. The tour will take you back in time while visiting Al Quaraouiyine University, the oldest university in the world (before even Oxford or the Sorbonne). We will also visit the medieval Medina with its Bou Anania Medersa, the Nejjarine fountain, the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum. Overnight with breakfast at your hotel.

Day 3: Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Erfoud - Merzuga Desert

After the breakfast we will start your day driving towards the gorgeous Sahara Desert of Merzouga, passing through the beautiful town of Ifrane to arrive to the cedar forest of Azrou where the Barbary monkeys are located. It will be good opportunity to take photos of wilderness in Morocco. Optional lunch break on the way. We continue through the Atlas Mountains enjoying the landscapes of Midelt to arrive to the small town of Erfoud in which we’ll feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet. And then continue to Merzouga where you will enjoy ridding camels and gorgeous sunset towards the luxury desert camp for the overnight with dinner by the fire camp and starlit.

Day 4: Merzouga Desert -  Todra Gorges - Rose valley - Ouarzazate

Enjoy a picturesque sunrise before breakfast; we continue the tour to Todra Gorges known for its impressive bare escarpments. Continue to Tinghir and visit its Mellah gateway and the ancient colorful Jewish quarter. We continue the journey to Ouarzazate via Kellat M’gouna and visit of Tiliit (5 miles from Kellat M’gouna), known as the ancient city of Jews of the Dades. The fortress of Tiliit has been the center of Jewish region ruled by the Spanish – Jewish family of Perez from the end of the 15th century until the reign of Moulay Ismail in 1672. Continue to the hollywood of Africa Ouarzazate, check in at hotel and overnight with dinner.

Day 5: Ouarzazate- Ait benhadou - Atlas Mountains - Marrakech

Today you start to explore Ouarzazate, as a destination that attracted many world class movie producers. Here you may choose to visit the studios where some of the famous movies were filmed such as The Mummy and Gladiator. You will have time to explore the Jewish Quarter "Mellah" We will pass by Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah as a UNESCO heritage site and, the most spectacular fortress village in the south of Morocco and the iconic landscape immortalized in such films as, Lawrence of Arabia, The Man Who Would Be King, Jesus of Nazareth, The Jewel of the Nile, The Living Daylights, The Sheltering Sky, The Mummy, Gladiator, and Alexander the great. After that, we will begin to cross the high Atlas Mountains with many panoramic views and attractive Berber villages to reach Marrakech. Overnight with dinner at the hotel.

Day 6: Marrakech Sightseeing Tour

Today you will take a sightseeing tour of Marrakesh, a beautiful city of pink buildings. You will tour the city’s Jewish quarter, and see centuries-old synagogues and other sites of interest. Also share a meal with a Jewish home family, and learn about their experience as Jews in modern Morocco. Visit the Rabbi Hanania Hacohen Cemetery which is also the burial place of Rabbi Mordekhai Ben Attar and Rabbi Pinhas Hacohen Azough known as the “patron of Marrakech.” The city tour will include the former and current synagogues. You will visit the Bahia Palace. On the afternoon, strolling through the narrow streets of the old medina of Marrakech discovering artisans still working in the old-age traditional way. End up at Djemaa El Fna Square, considered to be the most famous and popular place in Marrakech. Overnight with breakfast at the hotel.

Day 7: Berber Life Experience

Today you will have a day trip out of the blusting Marrakech to the Atlas Mountains and Kasbah Tamadot. Designed like a traditional Moroccan fort, the hillside resort has beautiful grounds and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Depending on the day of the trip you can explore the local Market of Asni. You will also enjoy private visit to local Berber villages including few hours hike. Lunch will be served in either the stunning Kasbah of Tamadot or with the locals in a Berber family house. On the afternoon, you will be back to Marrakech city for the overnight.

Day 8: Marrakech - Essaouira

We drive out of Marrakech towards the coastal city of Essaouira. The town was fortified by a French-influenced architect named Vauban, and a former the settling ground for a large Jewish population, so the city has an eclectic, multicultural feel of Jewish heritage. As a result of these influences, Essaouira has become the premiere destination for artists and intellectuals. The city’s stable microclimate gives it a mild winter and a cool summer, so you can make the most of the beaches year round. Don’t leave Essaouira without visiting the local artisans, who are known for their marquetry furniture intricate designs inlaid in the roots of cedar. Check in and overnight with dinner at the hotel.

Day 9: Explore Essaouira

Today you will have a day at leisure in Essaouira, easily navigable city and ideal for a free day. The town was once over thirty percent Jewish and contained over thirty synagogues, some dating back to the eighteenth century. You will visit some of these synagogues, as well as the tomb of Rabbi Chaim Pinto, who is the object of an annual pilgrimage in the week preceding Rosh Hashanah, situated in the vast Jewish cemetery adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean. Essaouira is known by the local Gnawa Festival Music. Back to the hotel for the overnight.

Day 10: Essaouira- Back to airport

Transfer to Casablanca or Marrakech airport for your return flight with of remarkable memories of Moroccan Jewish heritage.
